Uzbekistan is rich in cultural traditions that span art, music, cooking and hospitality. The family plays an important role in Uzbek society, and family values are considered sacred. Family weddings, housewarmings and other family events are usually held with great pomp and joy.

Musical traditions include a unique instrument - “dutar”, as well as “tar” and “milker”. Uzbek music often accompanies dances, including "lezginka" and "buchchiki".


Hospitality is very important for Uzbeks. Guests are always greeted with traditional non bread and pickles. An invitation to tea is considered a gesture of friendship, and tea drinking is often accompanied by conversation and exchange of opinions.


Religion also plays a significant role in the lives of the Uzbek people, and the majority of residents follow Islam, with Muslim culture permeating many aspects of daily life. Important religious holidays such as Ramadan and Eid al-Adha are celebrated with great participation and festivities.
